BECOMING SAMMI
Biography
Sammi entered the
entertainment at a age of 16. She participated in The 7th TVB New Comer
Singing Contest in 1988 and won the Bronze award. Sammi’s first music
company was Capital Artists. Sammi filmed her first TV drama in 1990 for
TVB. Since 1990, Sammi’s images were always different, such as different
hairstyles and different hair colors. Sammi was not so famous during the
years in Capital Artists music company.
In the year 1995, Sammi
finally decided to change her music company to Warner Music and she had a
new manager, Frankie Lee. She released her first album with Warner Music
called “Can’t let go of you”, her popularity suddenly increased rapidly.
Her songs such as, “Can’t let go of you” and “The mourning song of love”
were so popular in KTV’s.

Her popularity carried on
to the next year 1996, Sammi held her first concert with 8 shows in the HK
Coliseum. Sammi wore many exposed and sexy clothes such as the golden
metal bra in the concert and with the most outstanding image, the “Nike”
eyebrow. Sammi received her first “Most Popular Female Singer” award at
that same year.
In 1998, Sammi held her
first World Tour concert. Sammi’s popularity never stopped. In 1999, Sammi
received her first TVB’s “Top Golden Gold Song” award. In 2000, Sammi
filmed the movie “Needing You” with Andy Lau which grossed $35,000,000
high box office. On that year, it was the first time Sammi dominated as
the “Best Actress”.
Sammi continued to work in
the movie industry and filmed many movies with over $20,000,000 box
office. Soon, Sammi became the highest pay HK female artist. Since then,
movie companies viewed Sammi as the “Box office Queen”.
In 2001, Sammi received the
gold award “Best Female Singer” from Commercial Radio 2 for the first
time. Sammi also received many awards in that year. In 2002, Sammi
received her first “Best Actress” award for the movie “Wu Yen” and
received the title, the “Acting Queen”. Sammi’s popularity never dropped,
even until now the year 2008, the press still viewed Sammi as one of the
top female singer in Asia.
